Mother’s Day weekend is here. Y’all, may I be completely honest? I have about five rough drafts of blogs I’ve meant to put out and have not.
The constraints of work and some dear losses in my life have put me in a dip of sorts. As this particular day, Mother’s Day comes this weekend, I could not go another week without sharing my heart about this subject that has become a subject of my latest book that is in editing for publishing.
So, as many of you may already know, I desire to be a mom. For those that are new here, let me begin with this. My writing was born from this inner desire to be a mother and coming up empty after several failed IVFs.
Having said this, I always strive to share hope, especially during this holiday.
That’s where “Mamma Mia,” the title of this blog, comes in. “Mamma Mia” is an Italian term used when someone says, “oh goodness.”
Now I celebrate my “lack of” because it reminds me of how Great God is.
Did you know that? I recently learned that! I find it to be a fitting title for this blog! “Oh goodness,” I always said when another year Mother’s Day reminded me of not celebrating motherhood.
Now I celebrate my “lack of” because it reminds me of how Great God is. See He has been holding my hand and walking me along some pretty dark paths, buts He’s never let go of me.
I choose to be grateful in the process that I’m still joyful, silly Paula, enjoying life and finding beauty in the “lack of.”
Thinking about the special moms in my life made me realize why I desire to be a mom!
With this new perspective on life, I look at the “lack of” a bit differently. It is, after all, all about perspective. I choose to celebrate the amazing moms in my life, like my mother, mother-in-law, and other special moms I share life with.
Thinking about the special moms in my life made me realize why I desire to be a mom! Even now, it comes down to some pretty easy reasons.
- I have an amazing Mexican-spirited, spunky mom who makes life fun for me! She cares for my needs, and she always has me laughing.
- My mother-in-law inspires me to be financially savvy, and I adore her for taking my calls and talking for hours (literally).
- My sisters-in-law, wow, they genuinely embody what it is to be selfless—quitting their jobs to be full-time moms and some working extra hard to provide for their little ones.
- The amazing women in my life who are moms in my circle (my besties, my Pastors, and co-workers).
All of the moms in my life truly make me want to be a mom. They truly inspire me. When I complain about work or wife duties in the home, I’m sure they laugh and giggle; if you only knew if you added two or even just one little one?
Haha, I don’t understand, and that’s why I truly honor them today.
As I close out this blog, I want to encourage each and every one of you who are “in the waiting” to become a mom, or maybe you are in a position where it is difficult to celebrate Mother’s Day this year. Know that someone is thinking of you on this special weekend.
This part is especially for you.
Today I want to pray with you!
I pray these prayers bless you!
Happy Mother’s Day Weekend! You got this, but most importantly, God’s got you!
